The Doan Gang - Outlaws of the Revolution

This remarkable, historic exhibit sheds light on one of the most interesting and mysterious stories from the American Revolution that live on today. Through compelling graphics, immersive environments, and amazing artifacts, the exhibit introduces visitors to the enigmatic Doans, loyalists to the British Crown & enemies of the Revolution. Visitors travel through stories of intrigue and espionage, as they separate legend from fact and discover for themselves why these characters were heroes to some and villains to others.

Gecko Group was thrilled to collaborate with the Mercer Museum team, alongside longtime partners ArtGuild, Inc. Our team was tasked with helping bring the vision to life through the design of immersive, scenic environments that would act as a backdrop to carry visitors through the story of the Doan Gang. We also collaborated to develop the hierarchy and design style for the interpretive graphics and interactive experiences. Working closely with the Mercer and ArtGuild teams, we created 9 scenic vignettes, including an 18th century tavern, barn, a house, the Halsey cabin, which was the site of a dramatic shoot out, and more. The exhibit, including the scenic environments, helps bring history alive, making it relevant and impactful for today’s visitors.
